The Opportunity
As a result of internal promotion, we are seeking an experienced General Manager - Safety Health, Quality & Training to define and lead the overall vision, policy, and governance framework for Health, Safety, Operational Training and Wellbeing across Veolia Australia and New Zealand. This is a pivotal leadership role reporting to the Chief People, Safety and Environment Officer. This role may be based in either Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth.

What you’ll be responsible for
Leading the strategic direction and long-term vision of the Health & Safety program across Veolia ANZ, you will:
- Serve as the primary advisor to the CEO and ExCo on governance, strategic risks, and emerging regulatory trends
- Establish and oversee the implementation of integrated Health, Safety, Operational Training and Wellbeing Frameworks across all ANZ operating facilities and client sites
- Provide executive oversight for high-risk operations and oversee crisis and incident response frameworks, ensuring systemic root-cause implementations for major incidents
- Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing regional and national safety leadership team across Environmental Services, Resource Recovery, Industrials and Energy and Water Lines of Business
- Work in close collaboration with the People, Environment and Risk and Insurance functions to deliver unified governance and support to the Operational Lines of Business
- Ensure compliance with ANZ Work Health & Safety legislation and govern overall certification strategies, ensuring enterprise alignment with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001
What you’ll need to be successful
- Postgraduate degree or tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Mastery of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO9001 and enterprise risk management frameworks
- Proven track record operating in a senior safety leadership role within a complex, heavy industry or multi-site environment
- Demonstrated experience advising C-suite leaders and managing complex regulatory relationships
- Advanced communication, risk management, and crisis control capabilities
