The Opportunity
Veolia Australia & New Zealand is seeking an experienced M&A manager to join the Corporate Development team and contribute to the development and execution of Veolia’s inorganic growth plan. This role is a full-time, permanent position.
GreenUp is Veolia’s global strategy for 2024-2027, to better the world’s production and consumption methods. Australia was identified as one of three key regions (globally) with the highest potential for accelerated growth through GreenUp.
This is a newly established position within the Corporate Development team to support the delivery of a strong pipeline of inorganic growth opportunities. The role will also enable you to broaden your exposure by applying relevant skills in support of other growth-oriented activities within Veolia, including business case development for organic growth opportunities, transaction financing and structuring, and management of investment control activities.
We are a small team, so a willingness and ability to be resourceful, roll up the sleeves, collaborate and drive outcomes, will be critical to succeeding in this role

What you'll be responsible for

Assist in the development and execution of acquisition strategies.

Conduct market assessments, company overviews, and review of investment plans.

Preparation of bid letters, briefing papers and formal presentations for investment committees.

Support or lead transaction processes and projects from end-to-end from initial outreach / conception to completion and integration planning.

Support or lead the due diligence process for acquisitions, divestments, and strategic investments, collaborating with cross-functional teams and external advisors.

Stakeholder engagement, including Executive Committee.

Assist in the formulation of financing and structuring strategies for strategic investments.

Build and review valuation models, return analyses, and investment scenario modelling.

Collaborate with finance, tax and accounting teams to evaluate the financial aspects of transactions.
What you'll need to be successful

Degree qualified in relevant tertiary fields, such as Business, Finance or Law.

Relevant post-graduate qualifications will be highly regarded, e.g. CA, CPA, CFA, Master of Applied Finance.

Experience in investment banking, management consulting or corporate finance (preferred 5+ years).

Advanced Excel (financial modelling), Word and Powerpoint skills.

Demonstrated experience in investment analysis, identifying and evaluating mergers and acquisitions.

Demonstrated understanding of legal, accounting and tax issues for investments / M&A
