The Opportunity

Are you a great communicator and enjoy supporting a team? Join Veolia’s Resource Recovery facility in Welshpool WA as our Leading Hand Operator where you will help to coordinate the day to day operations of the site while upholding our safety, environmental and customer standards.

What you'll be responsible for

• Act as the key point of contact between site employees and the Site Supervisor, ensuring clear communication and promptly escalating matters where necessary as well as providing constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement

• Coordinate daily tasks and team allocations in line with rosters and operational requirements, supporting the efficient running of the facility.

• Supervise team performance, encourage productivity, monitor breaks and PPE compliance, and provide input into performance reviews, training and staff development.

• Assist with the operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of mobile and fixed plant including loaders, balers, excavators, forklifts and other site equipment.

• Support forecasting, maintenance, transport and logistics activities including monitoring trailer movements, managing vehicle service schedules and liaising with contractors to meet daily volumes.

• Promote a strong safety and environmental culture by ensuring compliance with OHS&E requirements, safe operating procedures, PPE standards and incident reporting.

• Maintaining strong working relationships supporting inductions and other site administration duties

What you'll need to be successful

• Excellent communication skills 

• HRWL Forklift license 

• Front End Loader ticket (desirable)

• Material Handler certification 

• Full Driver’s License 

• Working at Heights ticket (desirable)

• Working knowledge of WHA,EPA Legislation and regulations 

• Knowledge of spreadsheets google/microsoft

• Waste industry, planning and/or logistics experience
