We are seeking an experienced Regional Safety Operations Manager to join our Compliance Division in Wellington. This key leadership role will drive strategic health and safety initiatives across our organization.

What you'll be responsible for

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Lead and develop comprehensive H&S programs across multiple sites
  • Drive cultural change and safety leadership initiatives
  • Advise and collaborate with contract management teams
  • Implement innovative health and safety strategies and systems

Operational Management:

  • Maintain OHSAS 18001:2007 and AS/NZS 4801 certifications
  • Develop and implement site-specific Health & Safety Plans
  • Manage ACC Accredited Employer Program
  • Lead investigations into incidents and near-misses
  • Coordinate contractor/subcontractor health and safety

People Leadership:

  • Manage and mentor H&S Advisors
  • Review and update health and safety inductions
  • Support health and safety representatives and committees
  • Build and maintain relationships at all organizational levels

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with HSW Act and relevant legislation
  • Provide quarterly performance reports against KPIs
  • Maintain relationships with WorkSafe and regulatory bodies

What you'll need to be successful

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Relevant degree/diploma in Health & Safety
  • Significant experience in wastewater treatment or 3 water operations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OHSAS 18001:2007 and AS/NZS 4801 standards
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office Suite, Google Suite)
  • Strong documentation and administrative capabilities
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Valid driver's license
