We're seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our Operations team in the Wellington Region. This position is responsible for ensuring our Treatment Plants and processes are functioning optimally through skilled maintenance activities.

What you'll be responsible for
Maintenance Operations:
• Execute preventative maintenance programs for all plant equipment
• Perform corrective maintenance and emergency repairs
• Monitor and optimize mechanical equipment performance
• Operate specialized workshop equipment (lathe, mill/drill, welding equipment)
• Conduct regular equipment inspections and condition monitoring
Contractor Management:
• Supervise and coordinate external contractors
• Provide site inductions and safety briefings
• Review and sign off completed contractor work
• Ensure compliance with site procedures and safety requirements
Compliance & Safety:
• Maintain trade qualifications and certifications
• Implement health and safety procedures
• Contribute to environmental management systems
• Ensure regulatory compliance in all maintenance activities
Operational Support:
• Participate in on-call duty roster
• Prepare detailed maintenance reports
• Manage spare parts inventory
• Support team members' development
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
What you'll need to be successful
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
• Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 3 years industrial maintenance experience
• Demonstrated experience with preventative maintenance programs
• Computer literacy (CMMS, Microsoft Office)
• Valid driver's license
DESIRABLE SKILLS:
• Experience in water/wastewater treatment operations
• Knowledge of process control systems
• Welding certifications
• Experience with condition monitoring techniques
• Project management skills
