We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join us here at Veolia. In this role you will be undertaking maintenance activities to enable the Treatment Plants and their processes are functioning and in optimal condition.

What you’ll be responsible for
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain the required trade qualification and certification to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Complete ongoing training to maintain the required competency for the role.
  • Complete all preventative maintenance of all plant and equipment ensuring best practice is used and in compliance with manufacturers recommendations; and appropriate authorisation is gained before work is carried out.
  • Respond, plan and carry out corrective maintenance activities in a timely manner ensuring best practice is used and appropriate authorisation is gained before work is commenced.
  • Managing subcontractors and suppliers, including providing inductions, issuing work plans, provide supervision when needed and auditing and signing off their work.
  • Carry out and complete inspections inline with trade or regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor all mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Provide communication reports to Operations on the status of plant and equipment, programmes of work and others as required.
  • Use of workshop equipment - operating lathe, mill/drill, welding equipment, tools.
  • Escalating problems in a timely manner.
  • Assisting and supporting the achievement of team members' development plans.
  • Assisting organising supplies such as spares and materials for maintenance work.
  • Participating in the On-Call duty operators Roster.
  • Contribute to the management of Health and Safety, Quality Assurance and Environmental Management Systems, while applying these procedures in all aspects of work
  • Comply with the requirements of Veolia’s Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Policy Statements, including participation at local toolbox and health and safety meetings
  • Adhere to all written and verbal instructions, procedures and information issued by Veolia relating to both health and safety and environmental issues and with all relevant clauses of the Integrated Business Management System Manual.
  • Comply with the requirements of the company’s business management system and the Quality Policy for drinking water, wastewater treatment and disposal to contribute to the company’s commitment to provide safe, high quality drinking water and wastewater services that consistently meets or exceeds the requirements of the Contracts,
  • All employees are responsible for reporting any problems with the business management system, particularly in relation to the management of occupational health and safety, environment and drinking water.

 

What you’ll need to be successful

Qualifications:

  • Trade qualification - Mechanical 
  • Computer literacy.

Experience:

  • Hands-on industrial maintenance experience.
  • Exposure to the Wastewater and/or process industry and basic understanding of various treatment technologies and processes is preferable.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues and contractors.
  • Ability to fault find mechanical or electrical equipment or plant
  • Proven problem solving skills and proposed methodologies.

Other relevant skills or information:

  • Knowledge of water and wastewater operations, maintenance and project activities.
  • Understanding of the criticality of operational requirements and resource consent compliance.
  • Understanding of the commercial nature of the operations of Veolia.
  • Ability to organise resources, establish priorities and meet deadlines through balancing commitments and priorities.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy, computing, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients and contractors.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with an aptitude for both office and field work.
  • Motivation and enthusiasm, a keen eye for detail and a desire for excellent customer service.
