The Opportunity

We are seeking a Maintenance Team Leader in Wellington to manage work activities and enable Veolia to meet its contractual and legislative obligation for the Wellington Wastewater Treatment Plant Services Contract. You will lead preventative asset management across treatment plants and facilities using internal and contracted mechanical resources with focus around planning, coordinating and taking ownership of the preventative maintenance at each of the wastewater treatment plants and auxiliary facilities. Supported by the Maintenance Coordinator, you will manage, support, and train the mechanical maintenance team while guiding clients and contractors. You will also drive continuous improvement, innovation, and high customer service standards to meet key performance indicators and company goals.

What you'll be responsible for

Responsibilities include:

• Support management of the Mechanical Maintenance Team, including inductions, performance reviews, training, professional development plans and lead weekly joint toolbox meetings
• Supporting the Maintenance coordinator to generate and resource preventative maintenance tasks, including day to day maintenance and breakdown activities.
• Comprehensive understanding of Wellington Wastewater Treatment Plant Services Contract obligations so as to enable understanding, implementation and management of related obligations in accordance with the Asset Management Plan.
• Ensure all team members are properly trained in health and safety procedures and use of PPE
• Comply with the requirements of the company's business management system and the Quality Policy for Drinking Water and Wastewater
• Health & safety leadership and support to the site SHEQ Representatives, including the Safety, Risk and Compliance Officer.
• Comply with the requirements of VANZ Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) and Environmental Policy Statements.

What you'll need to be successful

Qualifications:

• Mechanical trade qualification

• Demonstrable experience in water / wastewater related asset management and/or project delivery; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Experience:

• Experience in team management

• Adept with technical solutions and/or project management and delivery

• Strong asset management and alignment with contract obligations experience

• Proven ability to establish and maintain working relationships with clients and colleagues

• Computer skills.

• Well developed reporting and report writing skills.

• Understanding of quality assurance systems such as ISO9001 and ISO14001.

A full Motor vehicle drivers licence is required

You will have the ability to organise resources, establish priorities, and meet deadlines, along with the capacity to assess and assimilate a wide range of information to consolidate a position or assessment. As a self-starter who works well with a high degree of autonomy, you can handle stress and pressure while demonstrating strong communication, people management, teamwork, and coaching skills. You will possess a commercial focus, liaising effectively with internal and external clients, maintaining a keen eye for detail and a desire for excellent customer service, all driven by motivation, enthusiasm, and a flexible mindset.
