Based in Wellington NZ , the SCADA Operations Support Engineer role which sits within the Operations Technology team is responsible for the undertaking and delivery of operational SCADA services to enable Veolia Water to meet its contractual and legislative obligations, and grow the Veolia Water business.

What you'll be responsible for
- Support day-to-day operational functions of the O&M assets (including on-call functionality across all VNZ SCADA systems)
- Maintain and optimise SCADA and automation systems
- Provide 24 hours / 7 day a week support to Operational teams
- Provide on call support with the greater New Zealand OT team
- Provide process optimisation insights for the Operational and Technical team
- Support to the he Operations team to ensure operational excellence and compliance
- Manage and maintain a dedicated supplier and subcontractor network focused on telemetry, communications and instrumentation services and products.
Additional responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Comply with the requirements of VWANZ Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) and Environmental Policy Statements.
- Adhere to all written and verbal instructions, procedures and information issued by VWANZ relating to both health and safety and environmental issues and comply with all relevant procedures outlined in New Zealand Business Systems Manual and the integrated Business Management System (IBMS) Manual.
- Comply with the requirements of the company business management system and the Quality Policy for Drinking Water and Wastewater to contribute to the company commitment to provide safe, high quality drinking water and wastewater services that consistently meets or exceed the requirements of the company's contracts.
- All employees are responsible for reporting and hazards, incidents and accidents through the correct procedures.

What you'll need to be successful
Qualifications:
● Bsc, Bachelor or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering / Automation / SCADA or associated discipline, and demonstrable experience of electrical and SCADA design and / or operations, preferably in a water based environment
Experience:
- Proven ability to manage SCADA, telemetry systems and monitoring equipment
- Exposure to the water and/or process industry and basic understanding of various water treatment technologies and processes.
- Working with water quality and assurance monitoring programmes
- Proven ability to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues and work in a team environment

Other relevant skills or information:
- Experience with Datran, InTouch, System Platform, GeoSCADA, Powerlink, Aspex and Citec systems is desirable.
- Knowledge of water and wastewater operations, maintenance and project activities
- Understanding of the criticality of operational requirements such as water quality and resource consent compliance.
- Ability to organise resources, establish priorities and meet deadlines through balancing commitments and priorities.
- Strong literacy, numeracy, computing, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients and contractors.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with an aptitude for both office and field work.
- Motivation and enthusiasm, a keen eye for detail and a desire for excellent customer service.
- Electrical design and process control are essential.
