Title:  Breakdown Diesel Mechanic

The Opportunity

As a Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic, Breakdown Service you will be responsible for servicing and maintenance within Veolia’s modern workshop located in Brooklyn, attending vehicle and equipment breakdowns on heavy industrial and commercial waste vehicles, plant and equipment including but not limited to Volvo, Isuzu, Scania etc., breakdowns across the metro area.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • To service maintain and repair plant, equipment and fleet vehicles in a timely manner
  • Action all driver daily vehicle reports (DVR)
  • Fault diagnostics to identify and repair mechanical and electrical faults
  • Housekeeping of the workshop 
  • Actively promote and maintain safe operational standards in the workplace 
  • Complete scheduled daily work tasks as directed by the Workshop Supervisor/Leading Hand in an efficient and timely manner
  • Complete work orders and part requisitions daily and in full
  • Participate in after hours breakdown assistance
  • Attend and actively participate positively in team meetings
  • Maintain effective working relationships with team members

What you’ll need to be successful

  • Fully qualified Certificate III Heavy Mechanical Diesel Mechanic trade qualification (desired) 
  • HR Drivers licence  (desired)
  • Forklift licence (desired)
  • Ability to work both autonomously and part of a team
  • Strong focus on safety and performance
  • Experience servicing and maintaining heavy vehicles, plant and equipment
