What you'll be responsible for

  • Perform repairs, maintenance and diagnostics on heavy vehicles, mobile and fixed plant equipment, including hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems

  • Conduct scheduled inspections, component replacements and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance, safety and minimal downtime across the fleet

  • Carry out rebuilds and repairs on various pumps and equipment, utilising diagnostic tools and technical manuals to resolve complex mechanical issues efficiently

  • Maintain strict adherence to safety policies, procedures and Veolia's High-Risk Management Standards, including hotwork protocols and hazard reporting

  • Collaborate effectively with the maintenance team and supervisor, providing clear communication on repairs, maintenance activities and parts usage

  • Maintain all tools and equipment in good working order, performing routine maintenance and reporting any malfunctions promptly

What you'll need to be successful

  • Hold a trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic or equivalent.

  • Demonstrate a track record of successfully repairing and maintaining light vehicles, heavy vehicles, mobile and fixed plant machinery.

  • Possess strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, utilising diagnostic tools and equipment effectively. 

  • Familiarity with electrical systems and the ability to conduct repairs and diagnostics.

  • In-depth knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.

  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and specifications accurately.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team

  • Safety mindset
