Title:  Legal Counsel

The Opportunity

Veolia Australia and New Zealand  is seeking  a Legal Counsel to join our collaborative and highly engaged in-house team.  In this role you will provide cost effective, high quality, strategic and timely legal services to Veolia Australia and New Zealand’s lines of business, as well as manage legal risk and compliance.

What you'll be responsible for

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a full range of commercial contracts to ensure compliance with the Company’s objectives, risk profile and relevant legislation
• Providing advice regarding the legal and practical implications of developments in the law and regulatory environments in which Veolia operates
• Managing disputes and investigations
• Preparing and delivering tailored training to ensure stakeholder knowledge on relevant topics to support risk reduction
• Providing appropriate legal input into organisational initiatives and projects
• Liaising with external legal providers as appropriate and analysing and interpreting advice to ensure appropriate recommendations and courses of action

What you'll need to be successful

• Bachelor of Laws
• Practising certificate in an Australian jurisdiction
• 6 plus years’ PQE
• A solid commercial background gained in a top tier law firm or leading commercial corporate entity
• Experience in construction and / or projects desirable
