The Opportunity

Come join Veolia in this dynamic Plant Maintenance - Leading Hand role where you will assist the leadership team in coordinating the day to day functions of the Northern Tasmanian Material Recycling Facility (MRF). In this role you will ensure the completion of operational tasks are in accordance with safety and environmental standards, customer expectations and targets as well as completing maintenance tasks with various plant and equipment.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Lead and ensure safe, continuous operation of the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in accordance with VAMS maintenance scheduling and VES Policies and Procedures.

  • Perform scheduled plant inspections, preventative cleaning, equipment adjustments, and parts replacement while maintaining optimal spare parts inventory.

  • Manage procurement processes and supplier relationships in line with corporate governance, ensuring resources are available when needed.

  • Monitor and lead team performance, including contractors, providing constructive feedback and supporting team members in fulfilling their responsibilities.

  • Maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders while proactively identifying and resolving issues that may impact team safety, effectiveness, or profitability.

  • Complete administrative tasks and assist in operational management of the facility, ensuring all maintenance activities meet quality and safety standards.

What you'll need to be successful

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role, ideally in maintaining process plant and/or mechanical equipment 

  • Operational leadership experience 

  • Experience with plant maintenance systems 

  • Experience with Google Suite or similar 

  • Mechanical certification (desirable)

  • Forklift License (desirable)

  • C Class License
