We are looking for an experienced Water Treatment Coordinator. Based in Ruapehu and reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for the management and delivery of services, which are assigned to  Veolia by the Ruapehu District Council associated with the Operations and Maintenance contract

What you'll be responsible for

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee day to day plant operations, including manage water team (3 North, 3 South)
  • Assist with maintenance planning, contractor management, monthly & annual reporting for client & compliance
  • Monthly PM’s - create & manage
  • Manage sample schedule, printing sample sheets, ordering bottles, liaising with watercare as required
  • Assist with O&M manuals, asset condition assessments etc
  • Assist Contract Engineer as required
  • Regulatory reporting (Taumata Arowai), once Water Outlook is properly online
  • Assist with training /onboarding of operators and provide and assist operators undertaking minor repairs and assisting with major repairs
  • Positively contribute to the district based operations teams by fostering effective working relationships with field, engineering and management staff, client representatives and customers and suppliers and ensure a close working relationship with the operations teams so as to ensure appropriate operational knowledge and input into day to day works
  • Comply with the requirements of Veolia New Zealand Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Policy Statements, including participation at local toolbox and health and safety meetings. Ensure that all health, safety and environmental standards are rigorously maintained.
  • Comply with the requirements of the company business management system and the Quality Policy for drinking water, wastewater treatment and disposal to contribute to the company commitment to provide safe, high quality drinking water and wastewater services that consistently meets or exceeds the requirements of the Contracts.
  • Report any problems with the business management system, particularly in relation to the management of occupational health and safety, environment and drinking water.

What you'll need to be successful

Qualifications:

  • Level 5 National Certificate is advantageous
  • Level 4 National Certificate is required, or
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience

 

Experience:

  • Proven management experience, ideally in water and wastewater reticulation and treatment
  • infrastructure
  • Ability to deliver services in a client/customer facing environment
  • Experience in water and / or wastewater treatment and / or water, wastewater and stormwater
  • network operation and maintenance
  • Previous experience in trade is considered advantageous

 

Other relevant skills or information:

  • Current driver's licence, class 2
  • Ability and willingness to work out of hours when required
  • Required to take part in an after hours on-call roster (Escalation)
  • Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Health and Safety legislation
