The Opportunity
We currently have a vacancy for a Treatment Operator based in Ohakune who will be responsible for operating and maintaining water and wastewater treatment facilities, and network maintenance across the southern townships within the Ruapehu District.
The Treatment Operator South is to ensure service delivery demonstrates Veolia's commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and customer service while meeting performance and key performance indicators and applying health and safety procedures

What you'll be responsible for
- Operate and maintain water treatment plants across southern townships in accordance with resource consent conditions, regulatory requirements, and operation and maintenance manuals
- Provide assistance with wastewater treatment operation and maintenance tasks to support the wastewater treatment operator
- Monitor and maintain the water, wastewater and stormwater networks throughout the southern end of the Ruapehu District
- Provide first response to network breakdowns, water leaks and wastewater blockages
- Complete associated administration work accurately and in a timely manner via tablet in real time to ensure compliance with KPIs
- Positively contribute to the Ruapehu operations team and provide general operation and maintenance assistance as appropriate
- Participate in the on-call roster for South, including treatment operation and maintenance tasks and response to network breakdowns
- Contribute to the management of the Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Management Systems while applying procedures in all aspects of work
- Act as a point of contact for customer requests for service, appropriately responding in a timely manner
- Build and maintain professional client and customer relationships
- Undertake such general duties as required for the effective provision of services to the client and customers
What you'll need to be successful

- Participation in on-call roster
- Basic understanding of Health and Safety legislation
Preferred:
National Certificate in Water Treatment (or willingness to work towards this during work time)
Previous experience in water and/or wastewater treatment and/or water, wastewater and stormwater network operation and maintenance
Experience in service delivery and/or trade background
Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Health and Safety legislation
