We have an opportunity for a Water Treatment Operator to join our team in Ruapehu (Taumarunui). Ideally you will be experienced with water industry experience, or alternatively you are looking to start your career or a career change, where we will support and train you. Reporting to the Water Treatment Coordinator, the Treatment Operator is primarily responsible for the operation and maintenance of Ruapehu District Water Treatment facilities, network maintenance as required and completion of administration work related to these activities.

What you'll be responsible for
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Provide water treatment operation and maintenance for the Northern plants, which are based in Taumarunui, Ohura, Owhango, National Park and Whakapapa, and potentially Southern based plants in Ohakune and Raetihi.
- Monitor and operate the water networks throughout the Northern end of the Ruapehu District
- Provide support to the Network Operators when required and the Treatment & Network operators in the southern area of the Ruapehu District.
- Complete the associated administration work and contribute to the Taumarunui and district based operations teams, providing general operation and maintenance assistance as appropriate.
- Participate in the on-call roster.
- Contribute and comply with all Health and Safety related systems, procedures and policies.
- Comply with the requirements of the company business management system and the Quality Policy for drinking water, wastewater treatment and disposal to contribute to the company commitment to provide safe, high quality drinking water and wastewater services that consistently meets or exceeds the requirements of the Contracts.
- Report any problems with the business management system, particularly in relation to the management of occupational health and safety, environment and drinking water.
- Undertake such general duties as required for the effective provision of services to the client and customers.
What you'll need to be successful
Qualifications:
- Preferably Level 4 National Certificate in Water Treatment, or willing to work towards this certificate during work time.
Experience:
- Experience in water and / or wastewater treatment and / or water, wastewater and stormwater network operation and maintenance.
- Previous experience in service delivery and / or trade is considered advantageous.
Other relevant skills or information:
- Computer literate.
- Current driver's licence (preferably with Class 2).
- Ability and willingness to work out of hours when required.
- Required to take part in an after hours on-call roster.
- Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Health and Safety legislation.

As well as being able to work autonomously, you come with strong planning and organisational skills, a high degree of personal integrity and work ethic, practical problem solver and adaptability to changing circumstances.
