The Opportunity

 

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced operations leader to join the Veolia team delivering the City of Gold Coast Resource Recovery Services agreement. Reporting to the Program Manager, you will be responsible for the safe operation of the Reedy Creek Landfill and Waste and Recycling Centre, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations that adhere to legal, environmental, and ethical standards. This is a hands-on leadership role actively involved in day to day operations, providing visible leadership to the site teams and promoting continuous improvement.

What you'll be responsible for

 

  • Demonstrating visible leadership and promoting Veolia’s “Always Safe Culture”, ensuring the workplace is safe at all times. 
  • Providing direction and support to the team, managing performance and setting plans for the achievement of goals and objectives;
  • Managing end-to-end operations including weighbridges, transfer of waste and recyclables, provision of equipment and personnel, maintenance of the site infrastructure and fixed assets and material management;
  • Maximising the available airspace at the landfill through waste diversion programs, fill planning and application of best practise landfill procedures;
  • Environmental management and monitoring of the sites in accordance with environmental authorities, management plans and statutory regulations; 
  • Ongoing innovation and continuous improvement of the sites aimed at improving operational performance and increasing resource recovery;
  • Ensuring a high level of customer service is provided to facility users at all times;
  • Driving key performance indicators and lead continuous improvement programs; 
  • Working collaboratively with the City of Gold Coast team.

What you'll need to be successful

 

  • Demonstrated track record as an operations manager, with working knowledge of landfills and/or waste and recycling centres OR experience in operations management within hazardous/industrial, civil construction or manufacturing industries.
  • Demonstrated success in people leadership and nurturing a positive workplace culture.
  • Experienced in delivering against multi-faceted KPI’s and driving operational efficiencies;
