The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Water and Waste Water infrastructure Operator to join our team in Queenstown, who will be responsible for supporting the Infrastructure Network operational teams to ensure all network assets and infrastructure are operated effectively and efficiently. This includes assisting in operational activities involved with the delivery of safe drinking water and the collection and transportation of wastewater by ensuring key operational tasks and responsibilities are carried out.

What you'll be responsible for

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance of all reticulation infrastructure and associated network assets (Planned, Routine, Breakdown).

  • Identifying and escalating problems within a proper timeframe

  • Undertaking designated infrastructure operations duties.

  • Fault finding and repairs to assets and infrastructure, ability to use excavators, small trucks and other small plant to undertake repairs.

  • Ability to work with internal staff, sub contractors and temp labour and a willingness to share your knowledge and skills.

  • Participating in the On-Call duty operator Roster.

  • Contribute to upholding the high level of standard towards Health and Safety, Quality Assurance and Environmental Management Systems, while applying these procedures in all aspects of work

  • Comply with the requirements of Veolia’s Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Policy Statements, including participation at local toolbox and health and safety meetings,

  • Comply with the requirements of the company’s business management system and the Quality Policy for drinking water, wastewater treatment and disposal to contribute to the company’s commitment to provide safe, high quality drinking water and wastewater services that consistently meets or exceeds the requirements of the Contracts

  • Undertake required regulatory and role specific on the job training.

What you'll need to be successful

Qualifications:

  • Combination of education, training and industry experience.

  • Computer literacy.

 

Experience:

  • Experience with Water mains, 25mm - 550mm and waste water infrastructure, 100mm - 550mm.

  • Exposure to the water and/or water water infrastructure industry and basic understanding of civil construction and heavy equipment operation.

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues and contractors.

  • Proven problem solving skills and proposed methodologies.

  • Associated industry skills

  • Physically fit

  • Strong literacy, numeracy, computing, communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients and contractors.

  • Motivation and enthusiasm, a keen eye for detail and a desire for excellent customer service.
