The Opportunity

We are looking for Treatment Operators with one based in Queenstown and the other in Wanaka. The Treatment Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the water, wastewater facilities, and network maintenance as required. There is also a component of administration work related to these activities.

What you'll be responsible for
- Operate and maintain the water and wastewater facilities throughout the Queenstown or Wanaka region in accordance with the 15-002 Contract and Veolia procedures.
- Operate and maintain the water, wastewater and stormwater networks throughout the region in accordance with the 15-002 Contract and Veolia procedures.
- Provide additional support to the other Water Treatment and Pump Station Network Operators.
- Complete the associated administration work in an accurate and timely manner.
- Positively contribute to the operations team, particularly during periods of work overload, planned and unplanned staff absences and as part of the on-call roster, and by undertaking general operation and maintenance when appropriate.
- Participate in the on call roster for the 15-002 Contract on a 1 in 3 rotation.
- Contribute to the district based operations team as required.
- Contribute to the management of the Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management Systems while applying the procedures in all aspects of work.

- Comply with the requirements of the company business management system and the Quality Policy for drinking water, wastewater treatment and disposal to contribute to the company commitment to provide safe, high quality drinking water and wastewater services that consistently meets or exceeds the requirements of the Contracts.
- Undertake such general duties as required for the effective provision of services to the client and customers.
What you'll need to be successful
- Level 3 National Certificate in Water/Wastewater Treatment – or working towards this qualification
- New Zealand Certificate in drinking water treatment (L4) or above
- Experience in water, wastewater and stormwater network operation and maintenance is advantageous.
- Previous experience in service delivery and / or trade is considered advantageous.
- Planning and organisational ability with proven ability to maintain accurate work records.
- Willing to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues for a harmonious We team environment.
- An effective communicator who can interact and relate to staff at all levels of the organisation, and the client / customers.
- A self-starter who can work with a high degree of autonomy and has the confidence in their own judgement and capability.
- A good work ethic, with a high degree of personal integrity.
- Can maintain a stable performance level during periods of pressure.
- Able to quickly adapt to changing circumstances and a practical problem solver.
- Willing to complete further training as required.
- Computer literate.
- Current driver's licence (preferably with Class 2).
- Ability and willingness to work out of hours when required.
- Required to take part in an after hours on-call roster.
- Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Health and Safety legislation.
