Veolia is a global leader in environmental services, committed to sustainable development and delivering essential water and wastewater services. We're seeking a skilled and dedicated Wastewater Treatment Operator to join our team at the Queenstown and Wanaka Wastewater Treatment Plants.

What you'll be responsible for
As a Wastewater Treatment Operator, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring our wastewater treatment plants operate at peak efficiency while meeting all contractual and legislative obligations. You'll work independently and as part of a team to maintain the best possible effluent quality and keep our facilities running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plant equipment (planned, routine, and breakdown maintenance)
- Monitor operations to ensure compliance with discharge quality standards and resource consents
- Perform fault-finding and repairs on mechanical equipment using workshop tools
- Generate work orders and organise consumables, materials, and spares
- Identify and escalate maintenance and process issues promptly
- Participate in on-call duty rosters
- Contribute to Health & Safety, Quality Assurance, and Environmental Management Systems
- Work at remote locations as required
- Share knowledge and collaborate with internal staff
What you'll need to be successful
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Trades Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Fitter & Turner or similar)
- Hands-on mechanical experience
- Computer literacy
- Proven ability to fault-find on mechanical equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Experience in water/wastewater or process industry (preferred)
