The Opportunity

The Team Leader (Water Treatment) supports the operational team by ensuring the effective, efficient, and safe operation of all treatment and network facilities. This role involves scheduling daily operational tasks in collaboration with the Water Treatment Supervisor, and assisting with hands-on operational activities to ensure the production of safe drinking water and the execution of key responsibilities.

What you'll be responsible for

Responsibilities include:

  • Routine Maintenance of all plant and network assets and infrastructure (Planned, Routine,Breakdown)
  • Identifying and escalating problems
  • Fault finding and repairs to assets and infrastructure, ability to use equipment to undertake repairs
  • Participating in the On-Call duty operator Roster - supervision based on ability
  • Contribute to the management of Health and Safety, Quality Assurance and Environmental Management Systems, while applying these procedures in all aspects of work
  • Comply with the requirements of Veolia’s Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Policy Statements, including participation at local toolbox and health and safety meetings
  • Comply with the requirements of the company’s business management system and the Quality Policy for drinking water, to contribute to the company’s commitment to provide safe, high quality drinking water that consistently meets or exceeds the requirements of the Contract
  • Undertake required regulatory and role specific on the job training
  • Schedule PM and day to day tasks for the operational team to ensure all PM deadlines are adhered to
  • Scheduling of maintenance for infrastructure assets
  • Assist with the management of on-call roster for alarms in Queenstown
  • Management and adjustment of water related O&M manuals

What you'll need to be successful

Qualifications:

  • Combination of education, training and industry experience.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Connexis level 4 Water Treatment qualification

 

Experience:

  • Provide hands-on industry experience.
  • Strong leadership experience
  • Exposure to the water and/or process industry and basic understanding of various water infrastructure technologies and processes is preferable.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues and contractors.
  • Proven problem solving skills and proposed methodologies.
  • Ability to assess and assimilate a wide range of information and consolidate a position or assessment effectively.

Essential attributes include the proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients and contractors, motivation, enthusiasm, a keen eye for detail, and a desire to provide excellent customer service. This person will be a proactive, results-focused team player and self-starter, maintaining a high degree of personal integrity and a positive attitude, and must possess strong literacy, numeracy, computing, communication, and interpersonal skills, in addition to being physically fit.
