The Opportunity

Ready to lead a team and contribute your civil construction experience to a new role with Veolia NZ?  The primary objective of this role is to lead your team in successfully delivering a wide scope of various civil construction projects safely, on time, within budget, and to an exceptional standard. You will ensure Veolia honors its commitments to the client by ensuring all work is delivered in line with Council standards and to the intended design with little to no work required.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Lead and supervise on-site crews, ensuring safe work practices and project timelines are met

  • Install water, stormwater, and wastewater infrastructure (pipe sizes 25mm–550mm)

  • Establish and manage project sites from mobilisation through completion

  • Identify and mitigate site hazards, implementing safety controls to achieve zero-harm outcomes

  • Monitor project progress, troubleshoot issues, and prevent delays

  • Coordinate effectively with team members and contractors to maintain workflow

  • Verify all pipework and installations meet technical specifications and pass inspections

  • Complete accurate site documentation, including safety logs and daily records

 

What you'll need to be successful

Qualifications:

  •  New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Pipeline Construction and Maintenance) Level 4 with Drinking Water strand, or Drainlayer registration or willingness to obtain.

 

Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand drainage, water reticulation, and civil construction

  • standards. 5+ years’ experience in horizontal infrastructure as a Foreman, Leading Hand, or Drainlayer

  • Proven ability to lead a crew of up to 5 people and manage a site.

  • Drivers license (Class 2 or higher is a bonus).

  • Experience transporting and operating machinery.

  • WTR endorsement is a bonus.
