The Opportunity

Veolia is seeking Trade Assistants, Painter Blasters, Scaffolders, and Machine Operators to join our dynamic team at the Alcoa Aluminium Smelter in Portland, Victoria. These positions are casual with permanent opportunities available for the right candidates who demonstrate exceptional performance and commitment.

What you’ll be responsible for

 

Trade Assistants:

• Assisting tradespeople with industrial services including vacuum loading, manual cleaning, and equipment operations.

• Operating specialized equipment (vacuum loaders, hook lift trucks, tipper trucks, street sweepers).

 

Painter Blasters:

• Surface preparation using abrasive blast equipment to industry specifications.

• Coating application using conventional and airless spray systems.

 

Scaffolders:

• Erection, modification, and dismantling of scaffolding systems.

• Ensuring structural integrity and safety compliance.

 

Machine Operators:

• Operating heavy industrial machinery and specialized equipment.

• Monitoring machine performance and conducting routine maintenance checks.

 

What you’ll need to be successful

 

Essential Requirements:

• Proven experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, or blue-collar roles

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

• Current driver's license (HR license highly regarded)

• Unwavering commitment to safe work practices

• Ability to pass pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screening

 

Highly Desirable (training provided for right candidates):

• Forklift, EWP, Basic Rigging, Scaffolding, HRWL qualifications

• Machine operation certifications and heavy equipment experience

• Previous industrial painting, blasting, or surface preparation experience
