Due to an internal promotion we have an opportunity for an experienced Treatment Team leader to join our team in Porirua. The Treatment Team Leader is responsible for managing and coordinating all resources ensuring all treatment facilities are operated effectively and safely, planned and reactive maintenance are carried out in a timely manner to ensure treatment plants and pump stations are always in compliance, running effectively and efficiently.

What you'll be responsible for


The role is responsible for ensuring the production of the best effluent possible is produced, by ensuring operational and maintenance tasks are carried out in a timely manner, by skilled operators. 

 

Key responsibilities and tasks include, but not limited to;

  • Maintain the required qualification and certification to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Complete ongoing training to maintain the required competency for the role.
  • Ensuring an effective and resourced roster is maintained for the completion of routine inspections and tasks.
  • Identifying, resolving and escalating maintenance and process challenges
  • Undertaking designated management, monitoring and reporting duties.
  • Assisting and supporting the achievement of team members' development plans.
  • Working with internal staff, sharing of knowledge and skills.
  • Organising / Ordering consumables, materials and spares.
  • Developing and maintaining an effective On-Call duty operator Roster.
  • Contribute to the management of Health and Safety, Quality Assurance and Environmental
  • Management Systems, while applying these procedures in all aspects of work
  • Comply with the requirements of the company's business management system and the Quality
  • Policy for drinking water, wastewater treatment and disposal to contribute to the company's commitment to provide safe, high quality drinking water and wastewater services that consistently meets or exceeds the requirements of the Contracts,
  • All employees are responsible for reporting any problems with the business management system,particularly in relation to the management of occupational health and safety environment and drinking water,and wastewater.
  • To undertake such general duties as and when required for the effective provision of services to the client.
     

What you'll need to be successful

Qualifications:

  • Level 5 Diploma - Wastewater treatment
  • 5 years supervisory experience
  • People management or Coaching training or qualification
  • Computer literacy.

 

Experience:

  • Hands-on treatment experience.
  • Exposure to the water and/or process industry and basic understanding of various water treatment technologies and processes is preferable.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues and contractors.
  • Ability to fault find treatment processes
  • Proven problem solving skills and proposed methodologies.

Other relevant skills or information:

  • Knowledge of wastewater or water operations
  • Understanding of the criticality of operational requirements and resource consent compliance.
  • Understanding of the commercial nature of the operations of Veolia.
  • Ability to organise resources, establish priorities and meet deadlines through balancing commitments and priorities.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy, computing, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients and contractors.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with an aptitude for both office and field work.
  • Motivation and enthusiasm, a keen eye for detail and a desire for excellent customer service.
