The Opportunity
We are looking for a Treatment Operator to join our team in Wellington in this full time role. You will be responsible for undertaking treatment plant operations activities to ensure the plants operator in safe, efficient and compliance conditions at all times. You may come with water industry experience however we are also keen to hear from anyone who has an interest in the water industry and environment, who we will support with training and gaining the necessary qualifications.

What you'll be responsible for
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain the required qualification and certification to meet regulatory requirements
- Complete ongoing training to maintain the required competency for the role.
- Completion of routine tasks and inspections and making the necessary process adjustments within your skill sets to ensure processes are optimal
- Carrying out routine inspections to ensure all instruments and equipment are operating correctly and are collaborated and certified.
- Issuing preventative and corrective maintenance tasks to the maintenance team and ensuring work is planned and carried out to the required quality standards and preparing the plant/processes to ensemble preventive or corrective maintenance to be carried out when required.
- Undertaking designated operations duties.
- Providing training to trainees - within your skill sets
- Organising / ordering consumables, materials and spares
- Manage subcontractor and suppliers
- Participating in the On-Call duty operator roster.
- Contribute to the management of Health and Safety, Quality Assurance and Environmental Management Systems, while applying these procedures in all aspects of work.
- Comply with the requirements of Veolia’s Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Policy Statements, including participation at local toolbox and health and safety meetings,
- Comply with the requirements of the company's business management system and the Quality Policy for drinking water, wastewater treatment and disposal to contribute to the company's commitment to provide safe, high quality drinking water and wastewater services that consistently meets or exceeds the requirements of the Contracts,
- To undertake such general duties as and when required for the effective provision of services to the client.
What you'll need to be successful
Qualifications:
- NZQA Level 4 Diploma - Wastewater Treatment
- Computer literacy.
Experience:
- Hands-on wastewater treatment plant experience.
- Exposure to the water and/or process industry and basic understanding of various water treatment technologies and processes is preferable.
- Ability to fault find treatment processes
- Proven problem solving skills and proposed methodologies.
- Ability to organise resources, establish priorities and meet deadlines through balancing commitments and priorities.
- Strong literacy, numeracy, computing, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, clients and contractors.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with an aptitude for both office and field work.
