The Opportunity

Are you a talented engineer ready to make an impact on New Zealand's infrastructure? Veolia is seeking a Project Engineer to join our dynamic Developments team at our Papakura Operations facility.

Reporting to the Developments Manager, you'll take ownership of delivering critical three waters, waste, and energy-related asset services across our New Zealand operations. This is a hands-on role where you'll work on everything from large-scale greenfields developments to specialised subdivision projects, ensuring infrastructure meets the highest standards.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Manage Development Projects – Oversee infrastructure delivery from planning through completion, including stakeholder liaison, engineering plan reviews, and capacity analysis
  • On-Site Inspections – Conduct regular construction inspections and oversee infrastructure acceptance testing
  • Problem Solving – Facilitate solutions for technical challenges and servicing constraints
  • Asset Management – Perform asset condition assessments and develop forward works expenditure plans
  • Data Analysis – Interpret asset data using Google Suite, Excel, and Veolia systems
  • Process Improvement – Continually enhance development processes to optimise service delivery and asset integrity
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners
  • Travel – Occasional travel to other Veolia New Zealand locations as needed

 

What you'll need to be successful

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree (Civil, Environmental, or related field) or equivalent experience
  • Basic understanding of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure
  • Experience in infrastructure planning, design, and installation
  • Strong understanding of operational contracts and commercial business models
