The Opportunity


Newly created role within Veolia ANZ’s Technical and Innovation team.  In this role you will provide technical leadership and support to business development, projects and operations in waste and water treatment fields, particularly within the civil and structural disciplines.  This role may be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.

What you'll be responsible for


Working with key stakeholders within our water, waste and energy functions, business development and the broader Technical & Innovation Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing technical solutions and promoting operational best practice initiatives.  Specifically you will:
 

  • Establish strong working relationships, collaborate with teams, encourage knowledge sharing, and contribute to mentoring and coaching.
  • Develop Technical Solutions: develope concept designs and technical specifications, evaluate tenders, review documentation, provide buildability advice, support design reviews, conduct inspections, oversee defect management, and advise on technical queries.
  • Ensure technical solutions meet project requirements, comply with standards and regulations, and support approval processes.
  • Align with Commercial & Project Management by providing input on financial models, budgets, timelines, commercial negotiations, and align with the Project Management Framework.
  • Promote Ecological Transformation: Champion sustainable solutions, promote innovations to reduce carbon emissions, and help achieve sustainability goals.
  • Stay Always Safe: Identify and manage risks, conduct risk assessments, implement safety management plans, and ensure compliance with OH&S and environmental policies.
  • Support Operations and Business Development: Provide operational support, assist with market reviews, feasibility studies, tender input, and evaluate new ideas.


 

What you'll need to be successful

 

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or similar
  • Experience in technical management of civil and structural solutions
  • Experience with civil and structural design of buildings and other structures relevant to water and waste projects
  • Knowledge of building services technical solutions and associated Australian codes, standards and regulations
  • Knowledge of project management standards and technical standards relevant to waste treatment and water treatment, as well as civil and structural engineering and construction
  • Knowledge and understanding of WHS and environmental legislation and regulations
  • Effective communication skills
  • Collaborative attitude and the ability to establish positive relationships and maintain  a safe, respectful and inclusive working environment
  • Willingness to travel
  • Current Drivers licence
