The Opportunity


An opportunity has become available within our Technical Team for a Technical Manager - Electrical to provide leadership and support to business development, projects and operations in waste and water treatment fields.  This role may be based in Sydney or Melbourne.

What you'll be responsible for


Working with key stakeholders in water, waste and energy, business development and the broader Technical & Innovation Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing technical solutions within the electrical, control and instrumentation disciplines and supporting new infrastructure development and existing sites.  Specifically you will:
 

  • Establish strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand their business objectives and set the right engineering management approach that will deliver safe, compliant and technically suitable solutions.
  • Develop concept designs and documentation for electrical and control solutions
  • Write technical specifications and scope of works for tender processes
  • Review technical documentation and liaise with relevant contractors
  • Supervise commissioning and and start-up activities to ensure compliance 
  • Ensure technical solutions meet project outcomes and comply with standards and regulations
  • Align with commercial and project management objectives including input to financial models and adherence to project management tools.
  • Be a champion of ecological transformation and promote sustainable technical solutions that lead to a reduction in carbon emissions
  • Adhere to Veolia’s AlwaysSafe objectives by identifying and managing risks associated with technical solutions and supporting safety in design reviews

     

What you'll need to be successful

 

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Control and Automation Engineering or similar
  • Demonstrated experience in technical management of electrical and control systems
  • Experience with operations and design of electrical and control systems within relevant industries such as utilities, environmental services or manufacturing.  Experience with other building services such as fire protection highly regarded
  • Knowledge of project management standards and technical standards applicable to electrical and control systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of WHS and environmental legislation and regulations specific to electrical and control in industrial processes and project delivery
  • Effective communication skills
  • Collaborative attitude and the ability to establish positive relationships and maintain  a safe, respectful and inclusive working environment
  • Willingness to travel
  • Current Drivers licence
