Our local Veolia New Zealand team, operates and maintains a number of urban and rural 3 water infrastructure, networks and assets including treatment plants, pump stations and reticulation networks in the Thames, Coromandel District. Our team provides a 24 hour, 7 day a week service to contribute to their communities health and wellbeing, livelihoods for today and in the future.

The role will focus on the achievement of  our people, our community, our environment,  and our business outcomes by providing effective leadership of people, the management of resources, excellent communication and stakeholder relationships.


 

What's on offer

Professionally manage the contractual obligations for the Eastern Region by building and maintaining successful client relationships and partnerships.  Including but not limited to;

  • Direct operational responsibility of the Thames Coromandel Contract
  • Oversee the Electrical & SCADA Team proposed to operate out of Tauranga, and
  • Investigate, develop and oversee the operation of the expansion of the Spiral Wound Pipe operations on the North Island.
  • Work with the Strategic Projects team and Head of Industrial Markets to develop and follow up on new business opportunities.
     

What you'll be responsible for

  • Ensure the service provided demonstrates the company commitment to innovation, customer focus and meeting key performance targets
  • Provide value added leadership to operational teams including the timely completion of performance and development reviews (PDRs) and training plans
  • Actively contribute to the identification and development of new strategies to win and retain profitable new business opportunities within the Eastern Region of the North Island aligned to the NZ business plan
  • Review and evaluate operational functions and prepare annual and long term plans to meet the company objectives, contractual obligations and risk profile – this includes preparation of financial budgets and reporting
  • Review contract performance and take action in line with national operations plan to address areas of underperformance or non-compliance
  • Undertake such general duties as required for the effective provision of services to the client(s)
  • Liaise with Veolia clients ensuring that established relationships are maintained and further developed
  • Robustly schedule team resources so as to maximise utilisation, minimise cost impacts and deliver a stable work plan
  • Train, mentor and develop the team to ensure employee professional development and dual skilling for business flexibility and continuity
  • Assess, analyse and develop organic growth opportunities with existing clients
     

What you'll need to be successful

You will require an industry or business qualification, 10 years experience in a similar role, and an excellent knowledge of water and wastewater treatment systems, processes and standards.
Experience:

  • Experience in a management position 
  • Proven ability to manage a project and deliver within time and budget constraints
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain working relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to understand business and contract models, and the commercial nature of Veolia operations

Other relevant skills or information:

  • Knowledge of technical aspects of water and wastewater services such as process optimisation, drinking water standards and/or resource consent compliance
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater construction, specifically in relation to water and wastewater treatment and reticulation infrastructure
  • Understanding of the commercial nature of the operations of Veolia
  • Ability to organise resources, establish priorities and meet deadlines through balancing commitments and priorities
