The Opportunity

We are seeking a Water Treatment Operator to operate and maintain a biological leachate treatment plant in south east melbourne.This role features a competitive compensation package with the possibility of paid overtime. You'll have the opportunity to use your initiative to drive changes and upgrades while making meaningful contributions to vital environmental initiatives.

What you'll be responsible for

• Operate, monitor and maintain the leachate treatment plant

• Assist the project/process engineers in undertaking improvement and optimisation initiatives

• Carry out water sampling with a high degree of care to prevent cross contamination

• Maintain asset integrity by regular inspections, services and testing to ensure maximum uptime

• Work closely with stakeholders to ensure contract and regulatory obligations are met

• Undertake routine maintenance activities including supervision of work orders and maintaining a spare parts inventor

• Engaging and supervising contractors for works conducted on site
  

What you'll need to be successful

• A proven record of problem solving, diagnosing issues and facilitating repairs 

• Experience in water treatment operations - preferred but not essential 

• A working knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment and components

• Previous experience in water sampling and/or testing is highly regarded

• A willingness to work overtime, weekends and be a part of an ‘on call’ roster if required

• Forklift experience and licence - preferred but not essential

• Be able to pass a criminal history check and Department of Defence baseline security clearance
