The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Site Engineer to support our Remediation Services team within the Industrial Services Division in Melbourne. Working in a close-knit and diverse team, you will run day-to day treatment plant operations, arrange transport and logistics of hazardous waste and impacted material, and manage safety and compliance for our Brooklyn treatment plant. Along with the project managers, you will also be working on national remediation projects. In the long run, you’ll contribute to a sustainable future for Australia.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Organise the transport and logistics of impacted waste in line with EPA, Worksafe and Dangerous Goods regulation. 

  • Ensure treatment plants are operating in line with design, standard operating procedure and regulatory requirements. 

  • Provide engineering support to operators at on site treatment plants 

  • Develop and maintain safety documentation, batch sheets, monitoring and testing plans. Undertake product quality sampling and analyse trends in data. 

  • Maintain continuous improvement factors in waste reduction, costs, processes and health & safety. 

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Delivery and facilitation of Veolia’s remediation projects with a particular focus on soil and water remediation. 

  • Develop waste classification, waste management plan and carbon neutral solutions.

What you'll need to be successful

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or Process Engineering More than 2 years of demonstrated work experience in relevant fields, preferably in an operational environment 

  • Be a good communicator and adapt to a fast paced changing environment 

  • Experience performing treatment plant operations is highly desirable 

  • Previous experience in transport and/or logistics would be highly regarded 

  • An understanding and working knowledge of the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) compliance process 

  • Undertake a National Police Check with the ability to obtain a Department of Defence baseline security clearance. 

  • Driver's licence and own transport. 

  • Be prepared to travel to different client and Veolia locations (including interstate). 

  • Have a high regard for customer focus and safety.
