The Opportunity

Veolia is looking for a Trainee Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our operations team at the Springvale Mount Piper Power Station Water Treatment Facility near Lithgow.
You’ll be trained to operate and maintain critical water treatment equipment that supports power generation and protects the environment—while working toward recognised operator competencies.

What you'll be responsible for
This is a day shift trainee role where you’ll be supported by experienced operators and trained across the key parts of the plant, including:
- Learning routine plant operations and daily inspections
- Completing basic laboratory testing (and building confidence to perform tests independently)
- Learning compliance-related sampling and testing
- Supporting the team to raise and close out work orders in the maintenance system
- Learning the control room/SCADA basics to understand the overall plant process
- Training in solids handling, including filter press operation
- Learning the Permit to Work (PTW) system and isolation/lock-out processes
- Working safely every day and following site safety requirements
- Assisting with site inspections and audits (internal, client and compliance-related)
