Title:  Laboratory Technician

The Opportunity

Veolia's Sydney Desalination Plant is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support our Laboratory and Environmental Supervisor in delivering critical testing and analysis.

This is your opportunity to work with cutting edge water treatment technology, develop your technical expertise, and directly contribute to Sydney's water security. You'll perform routine and ad-hoc water sampling and laboratory testing (including ion chromatography), prepare reports, manage sample preservation, and coordinate external analysis.

You'll also troubleshoot plant operations with our wider team and drive continuous improvement in laboratory processes—making things safer, easier, and more efficient.

What you'll be responsible for

• Conduct water sampling and laboratory testing using field and laboratory equipment 
• Conduct bench scale laboratory testing and investigations to support troubleshooting and optimisation of on site water treatment processes
• Identify and implement improvements to laboratory processes for safety, efficiency, and ease of operation
• Prepare comprehensive reports on testing results
• Manage sample delivery, preparation, and external analysis coordination
• Maintain stock levels and quality assurance standards
• Uphold safe systems of work in the laboratory
• Train operations staff on laboratory processes and procedures

What you'll need to be successful

• Tertiary qualification in a chemical or laboratory based discipline
• Demonstrated experience with sampling, preservation methods, and analytical testing
• Experience working in a NATA-accredited laboratory
