Title:  Chemist

The Opportunity

Veolia is seeking a talented Chemist to join our Liquid & Hazardous team in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. Reporting directly to the Regional Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient acceptance and disposal of liquid and hazardous waste. Furthermore, you will ensure and maintain compliance throughout the collection, transportation, and processing of waste materials.

What you'll be responsible for

• Ensuring safe unloading and compliance with DWER and ADG licence for packaged and bulk waste received at the Kalgoorlie site.
• Identifying and labelling all incoming waste.
• Performing monthly site and environmental checks.
• Planning & implementing lab operations test work.
• Developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensuring adherence to all relevant checklists for Kalgoorlie operations, while also handling licensing requirements and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

What you'll need to be successful

• Tertiary qualification in Chemistry or related discipline AND/OR demonstrated experience in waste management
• Safety focused and continuous improvement mindset
• C Class driver’s licence
• Forklift ticket (desirable)
