The Opportunity

 

With a workforce of 4000, Veolia ANZ's largest environmental service provider and has been selected to operate and maintain the first Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) in Australia.  The new $400m state-of-the art plant will start to generate approximately 40 MW of clean energy and will provide a more sustainable solution for the effective management of waste.  We have an opportunity for a Plant Manager to be part of the newly formed and dynamic team.

About the role

 

Reporting to the Energy From Waste Project Director and with initially 3 direct reports, Veolia operates over 60 Energy from Waste projects globally and the purpose of this role is to provide Plant Management services for the O&M of what will be the first Energy from Waste Facility in Australia. The Plant Manager will support the Project Director with all remaining input into design, validation of construction, mobilisation and commissioning of the facility and the implementation of Veolia processes, systems and procedures in order to establish profitable operations that are safe, compliant, efficient and environmentally and ethically responsible.

What you'll need to be successful

  • Extensive practical engineering experience with a minimum of 5 years in a senior engineering/management role gained in a continuous process industry

  • Preferable - Degree qualified Engineer

  • Good knowledge of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and Commercial and Industrial (C&I)  Incineration and Power Generation, preferably with experience at a Management level in one of these areas

  • Preference for experience in Waste to Energy/ Energy From Waste / Energy Recovery Facility

  • Good knowledge of steam generation including high temperature boiler operation

  • Working knowledge of Environmental Permits and other relevant legislation

  • Experience of formulating and managing budgets

  • A proven team leader with good communication and organisational skills, able to manage, coach and motivate the operations teams 

  • Familiarisation with Google Suite and Microsoft Office - Intermediate to Advanced

  • High Risk Licences (Advanced Boiler & Turbine) an advantage
