The Opportunity

Join the SeaReady team and help deliver commercial ship docking, repair and maintenance projects across tugs, offshore supply vessels and other commercial ships.

Reporting to the SeaReady Project Manager, you’ll take ownership of assigned work packages, contractor coordination, purchasing and day-to-day project administration to help deliver dockings safely, on schedule and within budget. We welcome applications from experienced Project Engineers and suitable engineering graduates.

Your responsibilities and supervision will reflect your experience, with opportunities to develop towards greater project responsibility and a second-in-command role.

What's on offer

  • Hands-on experience across diverse marine and industrial projects.

  • Exposure to ship repair, maintenance, procurement, scheduling and cost control.

  • Career development and mentoring for graduate engineers.

  • The opportunity to work with clients, contractors and leading industry professionals.

  • A varied role combining site coordination, engineering and project administration.

  • A supportive, safety-focused team environment.

  • The chance to contribute to Veolia’s values of sustainability, innovation and customer focus.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Take ownership of assigned ship repair work packages, including scope reviews, estimates and work packs.

  • Maintain docking schedules and progress reports, tracking contractor activities against docking, undocking and redelivery dates.

  • Coordinate contractors, suppliers, materials and site activities, escalating delays and delivery risks to the Project Manager.

  • Coordinate client queries, meetings and updates; record decisions and follow up actions.

  • Obtain quotations, prepare purchase requisitions and process approved purchase orders within delegated authority.

  • Track deliveries, confirm receipts and check invoices against approved orders.

  • Maintain accurate job files, registers, timesheet inputs and project administration.

  • Track costs and commitments, prepare variation pricing and compile supporting information for progress claims.

  • Coordinate inspections, hold points and testing; maintain quality records, defect lists and handover packs.

  • Maintain contractor compliance records and coordinate assigned permit, risk assessment and SIMOPS actions with authorised personnel.

  • Participate in safety inspections and audits, report hazards and follow through on corrective actions.

  • Capture lessons learnt after each docking and apply them to improve delivery on future projects.

What you'll need to be successful

  • A degree in Mechanical, Marine or another relevant engineering discipline, recognised in Australia.

  • For experienced Project Engineers, project engineering or coordination experience in ship repair, marine services, maintenance or a related industrial environment.

  • Graduates are welcome to apply, with responsibilities and supervision tailored to their demonstrated capability and development needs.

  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

  • An understanding of scheduling, procurement, cost control and quality processes appropriate to your experience.

  • Confidence using spreadsheets and project documentation systems, with the ability to learn scheduling and purchasing systems.

  • Strong organisational, communication and follow-up skills, with ownership of assigned tasks and accurate records.

  • A practical approach to safety, recognising risks and working within your competence. Familiarity with permits, SIMOPS and marine survey requirements is desirable.

  • A current Australian driver’s licence and flexibility to support docking activities outside normal hours when required.

  • A White Card and Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC), or willingness to obtain them on appointment before undertaking work or accessing sites where required.

Marine, ship repair, maintenance or trade experience will be highly regarded. Most importantly, you’ll be keen to learn, contribute and help deliver successful projects safely.
