The Opportunity


The purpose of this role is to manage and support the day to day operations, liaising with Supervisors across Latrobe valley ensuring all sites are adequately resourced for current and future needs (labour and equipment), correct processes and standards are embedded and safety standards are met. The position will liaise directly with clients, both current and potential and provide support to the Latrobe Valley manager in tenders, pricing and contract growth.

What you’ll be responsible for

 

  • Lead and coordinate various teams currently supporting the power industry including protective coatings, land services, maintenance and civil construction
  • Work closely with employees and clients on a daily basis to ensure the contract requirements are met and resolve any issues or concerns
  • Identifying and defining resourcing requirements (labour, equipment, third party) to safely and efficiently compete contractual and ad hoc work
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve service delivery whilst maintaining customer service requirements.
  • Provide direction to the operational team and internal stakeholders
  • Actively engaged with the workgroup to ensure a safe, collaborative and results driven work culture 
  • Conducting tool-box talks, training, mentoring and coaching 
  • Actively review employee performance and assist in managing performance concerns
  • Liaise and engage effectively with your team and stakeholders at all levels
  • Monitoring maintenance costs and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Developing and strengthening key internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Provide induction/training and safety measures to new workers
  • Actively carry out inspections to ensure safe working practices
  • Support major projects and shutdowns where required
  • Actively seek out innovative ideas and technological change that could improve business practises and improve ineffective processes 
  • Assistance with managing budgets
     

What you’ll need to be successful

 

  • Excellent people skills
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work
  • Confident relationship building skills
  • Competent in adapting to new IT systems and programs 
  • Construction card (desired)
  • Latrobe Valley thermal generators power industry induction card (desired)
  • Demonstrated experience working in a similar environment where you have led by example and health and safety is your priority.
  • Customer centric approach
  • Previous operational experience working autonomously and managing your time to get the job done will be critical to achieving results in this role.
  • Basic to intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Cloud based platforms are essential. 
  • A drivers’ licence is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to influence 
  • Previous experience in heavy Industrial Services Industry highly regarded
