The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Business Optimisation Engineer to join our team at Head Office in Auckland. The key objective is to drive business improvement, standardisation and enhanced EBIT across VNZ activities.

What you'll be responsible for
- Direct collaborative working with nominated Operations commercial champions
- Working closely with other Veolia business stakeholders
- Working as an integrated member of the NZ Business Optimisation team
- Deliver outcomes that enhance Te Mana o te Wai and are compliant with contract obligations and legislative requirements,
- Conduct business audits across Veolia NZ contracts
- Oversee and actively support Operations in the implementation by Operations of business improvement actions arising from business audits.
- Active business support provision to Operations including development, implementation and training-out of standardised and optimised operational processes and documentation to facilitate efficient, reproducible, compliant and commercially focused outcomes delivery
- Provision of business project governance, project management and project implementation support for business projects.
- Assist and support Operations with Veolia global reporting.
- Provision of active support to business opportunities (paid service activities) and business growth opportunities.
- Technical and operational support to Veolia NZ ‘National’ supplier agreements
- Champion and support a commercial culture founded on a solid contract knowledge and understanding of revenue and costs.
What you'll need to be successful
Qualifications / Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant disciplines.
- Experience in an engineering / technical position.
- Ability to manage a project and delivery within time and budget constraints
- Proven ability to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues.
- Ability to understand business and contract models, and the commercial nature of Veolia operations.
- Knowledge of technical aspects of water and wastewater services such as process optimisation, drinking water standards and/or resource consent compliance desirable.
- Knowledge of water and wastewater construction, specifically in relation to water and wastewater treatment and reticulation infrastructure desirable
- Ability to meet deadlines through balancing commitments and priorities.
- Minimum Car drivers licence valid for NZ.
You are a confident and effective communicator, adept at building strong relationships and interacting with stakeholders at all levels, both technical and non-technical. With strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and sound analytical and problem-solving skills, you are a self-starter who works with a high degree of autonomy. You can pivot and quickly adapt to changing circumstances, delivering under time pressure. You possess a high degree of personal integrity and demonstrate a strong commitment to internal customer service and achieving positive customer outcomes.
