The Opportunity

In this role you will provide strategic leadership and operational management of the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) facility and transfer station, ensuring profitable, safe and environmentally responsible operations while maintaining regulatory compliance and sustainable business practices here in Echuca, 3564.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Lead and develop the operational team through effective training, communication, and implementation of safe work practices while ensuring customer expectations and KPIs are met.

  • Oversee all aspects of waste handling processes, including planning, infrastructure, operations, environment, equipment, and administration.

  • Conduct risk assessments, participate in technical workshops, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.

  • Support business development by providing strategic technical input for tenders and new opportunities, including functional designs and operational methodologies.

  • Collaborate with Innovation and Marketing departments to leverage technology advancements, while creating and presenting process improvement reports to management.

  • Develop and maintain positive stakeholder relationships while managing special projects and operational initiatives as directed.

What you'll need to be successful

  • Certificate III in Business Administration and Waste Management AND/OR over 5-years experience in waste management, including design, constructions and operations experience

  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant environmental legislation and familiarisation with EPA Victoria requirements pertaining to design, construction and operation of waste sites

  • Proven leadership skills – with experience managing operational staff

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) 

  • Strong customer service skills and work ethic

  • Willingness to travel (intra and interstate)

  • Drivers Licence

  • Experience with participation in community reference/stakeholder groups for waste management facilities

  • Demonstrated experience in applying Quality, Environmental and OH&S Management systems

  • Continuous Improvement Certification (e.g. Six Sigma) (desirable)
