The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Diesel Mechanic in our Shepparton Depot. Working in a close-knit, motivated team, you will service, maintain and repair our modern Heavy Rigid Fleet to ensure that all vehicles work to maximum efficiency in a safe and environmentally sound manner in line with regulatory and Veolia requirements. 
 

You’ll provide routine maintenance and repairs of a wide variety of vehicles, equipment and accessories. In your day-to-day activities, you’ll comply with, and promote, Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental policies and Site Safe Operating Procedures. And in the long run, you’ll contribute to a sustainable future for Australia. 

You’ll need:

  • Mechanical Trade Qualification
  • HR Truck Licence
  • Hydraulic Experience
  • 2-3 years experience working with heavy vehicles is desirable) 
  • Outstanding organisational and time management skills
  • Robust problem-solving & decision making abilities 
  • Strong safety focus with a proactive approach to improving safety and risk management 
  • Motivation to learn and grow within a team environment

    Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you’ll work closely with a small team, as well as various suppliers and contractors. And you’ll learn from them, as much as they learn from you.

In addition to operating the plant, you’ll play a key role in measuring and reporting the facility’s output, maintaining a robust safety culture and identifying more efficient ways of working that don’t compromise safety or quality.

    In this role, you’ll be trained across a number of concrete skills for the job in hand. Many of our Operators have continued to progress their career with us, moving into management positions.
