The Opportunity


Veolia ANZ has an excellent opportunity for a Commissioning Engineer to join our Remediation Services team. You will be required to be mostly based onsite at four new water treatment plants in regional Victoria where you will be responsible for commissioning, plant optimisation and operations start up.  When not onsite you will be based in our project office at Southbank. 

This role would be best suited for someone who is comfortable working away from home for extended periods of time and has previous experience in operating and start-up of water treatment plants. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commission new water treatment plants, troubleshooting and solving issues, working with suppliers, construction contractors and the wider Veolia team to ensure plants are operating as designed.  
  • Commission plants in accordance with commissioning plans, equipment manuals, field conditions and client requirements.  
  • Experience in day-to-day operations of a water treatment plant. 
  • Identify and assess the risks associated with both the project and interface into existing operations.
  • Monitor progress to ensure that project milestones and key performance indicators are met.


What you'll need to be successful:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred)
  • Project engineering experience, preferably in industrial, water, waste water or remediation industry
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home for extended periods of time
  • Previous experience working on site and proven ability to establish effective working relationships with Operational staff 
  • Experience and knowledge of engineering principles relating to the planning design and commissioning of water treatment systems 
  • Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines consistently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, experience with SCADA desirable 
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with customers, clients and colleagues
