We are looking for an experienced Capital Works Operator who will primarily be responsible for assisting in the delivery of water, wastewater and stormwater plant and network upgrades. Operation and maintenance experience is advantageous.

What you'll be responsible for

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Deliver  water, wastewater and stormwater plant and network upgrades. 

  • Completing works to programme and within quoted costs

  • Performing standover works for the client Projects team, ensuring Veolias values are maintained and the integrity of the assets are maintained. 

  • Planning and preparation of Project Connections to the Network 

  • Assist the Reticulation team where needed for operations and maintenance. 

  • Participation in the on call roster as required.

  • Contribute to the management of the Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Management Systems while applying the procedures in all aspects of work.

  • Support the development and maintenance of positive customer relationships

  • Comply with the requirements of the company business management system and the Quality Policy for drinking water, wastewater treatment and disposal to contribute to the company commitment to provide safe, high quality drinking water and wastewater services that consistently meets or exceeds the requirements of the Contracts.

What you'll need to be successful

Qualifications:

  • New Zealand Certificate Pipeline Construction and Maintenance (level 4) or equivalent, or working towards or a willingness to achieve the required training standard.

 

Experience:

  • Experience in water, wastewater and stormwater network construction, operation and maintenance is advantageous.

  • Previous experience in service delivery and / or trade is considered advantageous. 

 

Personal Attributes:

You are a proven self-starter with strong planning and organizational abilities, comfortable working autonomously, and able to maintain accurate work records. Your personal integrity, sound work ethic, and commitment to fostering supportive team environments align well with the requirements of this role. An effective communicator, you interact adeptly with staff at all organizational levels, clients, and customers. You demonstrate a willingness to complete further training as required, adapt quickly to changing circumstances, and maintain a stable performance level under pressure as a practical problem solver.

 

Other relevant skills or information:

  • Computer literate. 

  • Current driver's licence (WTR endorsement is mandatory.  Class 2 Drivers licence and STMS CAT A qualified will be advantageous ).

  • Ability to operate construction machinery.

  • Ability and willingness to work out of hours as required.

  • Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Health and Safety legislation.
