The Opportunity

Veolia ANZ is seeking an Environmental Advisor to join our team based at our Cambridge, Tasmania. As the Environmental Advisor you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of Veolia business and environmental objectives through environmental monitoring and compliance. You will work as an active member to provide environmental knowledge, support and solutions. This includes taking preventative actions that ensure compliance with environmental obligations and drive best practice environmental monitoring and compliance outcomes and consistency across operational sites.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Ensure site management knowledge of licence and permit conditions and responsibilities is well understood through incident reporting, delivery of environmental training and support to ongoing change initiatives 

  • Manage ongoing environmental monitoring (collection, analysis and reporting) in accordance with legislative responsibilities 

  • Identification, investigation and mitigation of environmental and compliance events across operations 

  • Manage site environmental management plans to ensure compliance

  • Prepare and submit reports and correspondence required by local, state and federal agencies to meet legislative requirements. 

  • Obtain and deliver environmental approvals and amendments in line with legislative requirements 

  • Respond to environmental incidents and manage the corresponding regulator interactions

What you'll need to be successful

  • Experience in a similar role with exposure to environmental monitoring

  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and regulations particularly the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act 1994 and preferably the Environment Protection Act 2017

  • Strong stakeholder management skills

  • Proven ability to analyse reports and data

  • Strong attention to detail
