The Opportunity
Are you a talented engineer ready to make an impact on New Zealand's water infrastructure? Veolia is seeking a Process and Compliance Specialist to join our dynamic New Zealand team - Auckland.
You will take ownership of driving process optimisation and regulatory compliance excellence across Veolia New Zealand's water operations. This is a hands-on role where you'll work on everything from process reviews and system optimisation to technical training and innovation initiatives, ensuring our water and wastewater treatment operations meet the highest standards.

What you'll be responsible for
You'll be responsible for championing operational excellence across our water treatment network. Your day-to-day will include:
- Leading process reviews and optimisation initiatives across water and wastewater treatment plants
- Managing DWQAR & RC compliance activities, sampling protocols, and water quality reporting
- Implementing process control strategies and optimizing chemical dosing and energy consumption
- Collaborating with operational compliance champions across VNZ contracts and ANZ technical experts
- Providing technical training and support to operational teams on process control and compliance requirements
- Conducting process audits, troubleshooting operational issues, and developing standard operating procedures
- Supporting innovation initiatives and continuous improvement across the business
What you'll need to be successful
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Engineering degree (Process, Chemical, Environmental Engineering or related field)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in water/wastewater treatment operations
- Demonstrated expertise in process optimisation and compliance management
- Strong knowledge of NZ drinking water standards and environmental regulations
- Experience with SCADA systems and process control
- Excellent communication skills – able to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong report writing, numeracy, and IT skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure
Desirable:
- Water treatment operator certification
- 3 Waters operations knowledge
