The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accountant to join our New Zealand Finance team on a fixed-term basis for 8 months. Based in New Zealand, this is a hands-on role that sits at the heart of our financial operations, supporting the Manager Financial Accounting and FP&A Manager across a broad range of accounting and reporting functions. What you'll be responsible for
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Assist with the month-end close process, including preparation and posting of journal entries
- Manage end-to-end CAPEX processes (including IFRS 16), ensuring accurate tracking, timely capitalisation and valuation
- Produce and maintain monthly CAPEX dashboard reports and oversee asset acquisition, disposal and transfers
- Prepare revenue accruals across various contracts and post month-end journals
- Generate and post customer invoices in SAP HANA, ensuring financial records are accurately maintained
- Perform monthly inventory reconciliation and aged analysis
- Assist with budget preparation and data collation
- Support the preparation of information for internal and external annual audits
Business Partnering & Process Improvement
- Collaborate with Contract Managers and administrators to ensure data quality and accuracy
- Actively partner with business units to identify and implement process improvements
- Assist with developing internal finance training modules for the NZ business
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
What you'll need to be successful
Essential:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in financial accounting, reporting and internal controls
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting or a related discipline
- Working towards or holding CPA/CA affiliation
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and work autonomously
- Positive, proactive attitude with the ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure
Desirable:
- Experience with SAP (particularly SAP HANA)
- Exposure to VANZAL and/or Google Suite
